World Changing??

So, I’ve been having trouble coming up with ideas that could be “world-changing”. A lot of the ideas I’ve been thinking of are sites that already exist. But, one of the ideas I did come up with was a website that you could sign up for, and you would get a virtual pen-pal somewhere in another country. This website would also translate so that you could understand each other. I thought that this might be significant because you could learn about what’s going on in someone else’s life on the other side of the world. I’m sure a lot of people have wondered what their life would be like if they lived somewhere else and spoke a different language. My other idea is probably typical for a “world changing” website. I thought of a website that sells something, such as t-shirts, and all of the profits went to kids and helping them get involved in creating art. I know a lot of schools are getting rid of art programs because there isn’t enought money to keep them going. I think everyone should get the chance to participate in an art class. Let me know what you think! They might seem kind of typical, but if anyone has any ideas to make them more unique let me know!

I think the idea of a virtual pen-pal website would be pretty interesting. It would be a great way for people to communicate with one another across the world. I always wondered what it would be like to live somewhere else.

I love the idea of a website to get virtual pen-pals from different parts of the world. But I also feel like if its virtual, it does not seem as personal as pen pals should be. Maybe it could be a site where you could sign up and actually get handwritten letters from the person but the website would translate and send a copy of the letter in your preferred language along with the original one….so it is still a personal snail mail letter being received.

Lindsay, I also like the virtual pen pal idea, I think maybe because it is something that is not really common, or at least I have never heard of a website like this…. I feel that we do not actually know enough about what is going on in other parts of the world. Yah, we can always watch the news but I think it would be a lot more interesting having someone actually write to you about their culture, history, news etc. It would be really neat if you did do a site about this because it could be very diverse and I think that there is a lot of different things you could include on it. Maybe even different facts everyday that a person has learned from wherever their pen pal is writing from. This could educate a lot of people who visit the site..

yes, the twist on this one seems to be that you can write in your own language and talk to someone else who doesn’t have to know your language. does this exist anywhere yet? research it…
